- The research examined the impact of microfinance intervention, specifically business and farming loans, on the quality of life of beneficiaries of the Lift Above Poverty Alleviation Programme in Ibadan Metropolis. Utilising a descriptive survey research design, the study included all programme beneficiaries, with a sample size of 200 individuals randomly chosen from four branches of the LAPO bank, including Sango, UI, Ojoo, and Iyana Church. Data collection was done using a 30-item questionnaire measuring the Poverty Alleviation Programmes of Lift Above Poverty Organisation’(PAPLAPOS) Scale (r=.84), which consisted of two subs-scales: Business Loan Scale (r=.83) and Farming Loan Scale (r=.85). The data collected were analysis through the descriptive statistics involving frequency counts, simple percentages, multiple regression, as well as mean and standard deviation. The results of the research indicated that the impact of the microfinance intervention (specifically Business and Farming loans) on the quality of life of the beneficiaries was statistically significant (F (2,148) = 111.425; R2 = .568), explaining 64.3% of the variance. In light of these findings, it is suggested that there is a necessity for microfinance initiatives focusing on enhancing basic and functional literacy to foster the advancement of entrepreneurship, development, and adult education practices in Nigeria. 2 results 2
- The rising rate of unemployment in Nigeria and the attendant socio-economic consequences have been the subject of discussion in recent times. More worrisome is the situation whereby multitudes of job seekers compete for positions reserved for only a few people. However, the Library and Information Science profession has many business ventures that a well-trained, competent LIS professional can delve into to generate income and be self-employed. This study which considers entrepreneurship as a privilege also looks at entrepreneurial opportunities and skills required for any LIS professional who would like to start a business as an entrepreneur. The paper concludes with recommendations on how LIS professionals can be empowered for a lifetime of entrepreneurship. 2 results 2

- Azadirachta indica popularly referred to as Neem plant is one of the plants found in almost all parts of the world. In Nigeria, the plant is famously consumed in its raw form, but efforts have been made to present the products in a variety of forms through processing. Despite this value addition, however, little research has been done in assessing the readiness of the consumers to pay more for the extra entrepreneurial labour in presenting the product in a more acceptable way. Thus, this study investigates household’s willingness-to-pay (WTP) for value addition in Neem-based products in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Primary data were collected from one hundred and twenty-one (121) respondents using multi-stage sampling procedure. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, contingent valuation method and logit regression model. Results show that 57.85% of the respondents were willing to pay highest amount for NAFDAC certification (𝑋 ̅: N615.57±116.48) followed by Brand name (53.72%; 𝑋 ̅: N538.92±328.26). Respondents were also mostly familiar with Neem powder (58.67%) and Neem soap (53.71%). However, this did not translate to usage. Age, gender, education level, occupation type and monthly expenditure were some of the factors determining WTP. The study recommends creating adequate awareness on the benefits of Neem-based products as well as formulation of policies that guarantee safety of product consumption. 1 results 1
