- Academic resources documents contain important knowledge and research results. They have highly quality information. However, they are lengthy and have much noisy results such that it takes a lot of human efforts to analyse. Text mining could be used to analyse these textual documents and extract useful information from large amount of documents quickly and automatically. In this paper, abstracts of electronic publications from African Journal of Computing and ICTs, an IEEE Nigerian Computer Chapter Publication were analysed using text mining techniques. A text mining model was developed and was used to analyse the abstracts collected. The texts were transformed into structured data in frequency form, cleaned up and the documents split into series of word features (adjectives, verbs, adverbs, nouns) and the necessary words were extracted from the documents. The corpus collected had 1637 words. The word features were then analysed by classifying and clustering them. The text mining model developed is capable of mining texts from academic electronic resources thereby identifying the weak and strong issues in those publications. 1 results 1

- All university libraries, in order to support the university's curriculum; to support the research of the university faculty and students; and for planning purposes, writes an annual report. This annual report gives details about the activities of the library in terms of, achievements (Success Stories), key statistics to back up claims, staff matters, challenges, among others, during the year under review. It is amazing that in practice this library culture is being eroded in new generation librarianship due to the fact that in the library school this practice is neither taught nor laid emphasis upon again while many professionals do not know how to gather the necessary data and write useful library report. Upon this backdrop this paper presented detail data gathering method for useful annual report writing. 4 The study adopted a narrative methodology while in the analysis of the study the data to be generated for library report was described to be the core functions of the university. The university library (i.e. Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan), over years, has been living up to expectation in this direction of generating these data. The data is to be used to write reports expected to highlight the activities of the entire university library system that occurred during the year under review. This strategic responsibility is a germane one for the university library in academic community, therefore, cannot be over emphasized. Some of the data were highlighted as Access and Collection Development (ACD); Community Engagement; Information Services regardless of their geographical locations; and strategic Academic Role. Suggested stages involved generally in report ivriting information flow includes: Set sectional/units' goals for the year and give brief description of how to achieve it; Make presentation at divisional/sectional/unit level, as the case may be, to review the set goals/objectives before commencing implementation; Commence implementation and meet, fortnightly/ monthly to present progress report, backed up with statistics; Hold quarterly meetings to present quarterly report of activities; At the end of the fourth quarter (i.e., July to September), collate the reports of the four (4) quarters and generate your annual report based on the statistics you have at your disposal; Call library management meeting for final presentation ofsections/units' reports by the divisional heads; The final collation of the reports is done by the administrative officer of the library who is the secretary at the library management meeting; The university librarian writes foreword and a covering memo attached to the report for onward submission to the university management. While the suggested outline for writing library annual reports includes: Introduction; State the major activities being carried out in the sections/units; Staff Affairs; State the set goals for the year as well as how to achieve it; Data presentation and analysis on quarterly basis and ensure that success stories are highlighted; Present challenges which are militating against the success of sections and units; Summary and recommendations. - Digitization of journal collections in libraries is inevitable with the advent of Information Communication Technology (ICT). There is a need to digitize journals in the academic library in order to preserve and to give wider visibility and accessibility to information resources for teaching, learning, and research. This article describes the processes of journal collection digitization in Kenneth Dike Library, University of Ibadan. Underfunding and copyright clearance are the challenges encountered, among others. The study recommends adequate funding and concludes that the benefit of instant access to digital information is the most distinguishing attribute in this present information age. 1 results 1

- Economic reforms and the quest for efficiency in public administration call for the decentralization of collective bargaining and wages in the public sector in Nigeria. But the effort to decentralize has translated into both a protracted industrial relations crisis and intergovernmental conflict. This situation is traced to the failed effort at institutionalizing collective bargaining and the consolidation of the unified wage structure in the public sector by the resort to ad hoc wages commissions. The distorted fiscal federalism and intergovernmental relations under the military in Nigeria complicated the situation, such that resolving the federal question has become critical to returning stability to Nigeria’s industrial relations system. 1 results 1

- Groves are imbued with meanings that define how members of a local community relate with landscape and construct reality that defines their collective identity. This article examines Sogidi sacred grove in the context of the construction of the collective identity of Awe people, southwest Nigeria. Techniques of data collection were participant observation, key informants interviews and focus group discussion. The article establishes that Sogidi sacred grove, Awe, imbued with immense religious-cultural values, constitutes the centre of the „being‟ of Awe people. The grove is perceived as the goddess of fertility and its water, “water of life”, signifies the past, the present, and because of the people‟s belief in her healing powers and ability to give children, she also represents the survival, future and the continuity of the Awe people. Allegiance to common beliefs and values associated with Sogidi contributes in building group solidarity among community members, and defining the people‟s collective identity. Many community activities are conducted at Sogidi site, indicating a sense of communality Sogidi grove invokes in the people. Most of the indigenes maintain that Sogidi grove is a gift of the Supreme Being to the town due to the supernatural powers they associate with the site, and its economic significance. 1 results 1
- In this study, an attempt was made using machine learning algorithm with the user data store in the mobile cloud framework to solve the problem of data over-collection. This was achieved by designing a model using the security risk level of the applications and the corresponding class level of the users on the smartphone that will help in preventing smartphone apps from accessing and collecting users’ private data while still within the permission scope. Users can store information in the cloud environment where the huge numbers of users are involved. We develop a mobile agent simulator to generate data, and determine the security risk level of the apps on users’ data with the class level of the data. The permission model was designed to determine whether the app is granted permission to access user’s data or not. The data was trained with the use of Neural Network. The evaluation metrics used were accuracy and comparison. For accuracy, the algorithm was compared with the existing algorithm. The data analysis showed that there was restriction for apps accessing the users’ data. The model if deployed on the smartphone will prevent apps from over collect users’ data even while still within the permission scope. This study proved that neural network with mobile cloud computing can be applied to prevent data over-collection in smart devices. 1 results 1
- In view of the importance of indigenous knowledge in development process, this paper investigated the efforts of selected federal university libraries in South West, Nigeria in indigenous knowledge collection development and preservation. The study adopted a descriptive survey design that involved the use structured questionnaire, unstructured interviews and observation as instruments for data collection. Seventy six (76) professional librarians constituted the target population of the study; therefore seventy six (76) copies of questionnaire were administered to the professional librarians in the selected university libraries. The data collected using the questionnaire complemented by interview and observation were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Findings from the study revealed the tremendous efforts of selected university libraries in IK collection development and preservation in the libraries as the study revealed the existence of IK materials. It also established that dearth of fund and linguistic problem were the challenges facing the collection development and preservation of IK in the selected university libraries. It therefore recommended that the university libraries should liaised with the international bodies for financial support for the sustainability of IK resources collection development and preservation in the libraries. 1 results 1
