- Despite the popularity of the African catfish and its great market potentials, the production is still basically at subsistence level due majorly to inadequate supply of seed for stocking. This has been linked to the absence of reliable production techniques for the mass production and rearing of the species under practical farming conditions. The purpose of this study therefore, was to find a suitable culture system for the mass production of catfish (Clarias gariepinus) fingerlings. Protected earthen pond and a unit of recirculation system were used. Fertilized eggs from female were divided into two equal halves and incubated under the same conditions. Forty-nine thousand frys each were stocked into the protected earthen pond and a unit recirculation system respectively. The frys in the two systems were raised for twenty one days and fed the same quantity and quality of feed throughout the period. The survival rate of the frys in the recirculation system was 79% as against 17% in the earthen pond. However, bigger sized (2.2 ± 0.23g) fingerlings were obtained from the earthen pond relative to those cultured in the recirculation system (0.9 ± 0.07g). The cost of raising frys in a recirculation system (N34,000) was twice that needed for earthen pond (N17,000), but this was more than made up for in the profit from sales, which was N311,360 and N99,156 respectively. The main reason for fish farming is the expected return to be, therefore, the choice of income-generating activities, amongst several options available, should be made on the grounds of their expected returns. 2 results 2

- "All over the world, there is an increasing enrolment level for university admissions in view of the ever-increasing benefits of earning university degrees. Thus, the high population of students in many universities, coupled with a high number of vehicles has made traffic control a challenge to University traffic managers. In this paper, the method of Resca1e Range Analysis (RRA) was used to estimate the Hurst Exponent Value (HEV) for the traffic inflow through the main entrance gate of a university as a control measure. Data from a university in the developing countries was collected and analysed. The number of vehicles that entered consecutively per five minutes was observed between 07:00 and 19:00 over a 144 count and 17 independent cases constructed between adjacent cases. Rescale Range Algorithm platform is then used for the data, and coded in FORTRAN Language. With a case made up of 128 consecutive five-minute dependent traffic inflow records, a total of 3348 vehicles entered the university community within the studied period while the average number of vehicles inflow per hour was 279. Average number of vehicles that entered per five minutes was 24. No vehicle entered between 13:25 and 13:30. For all cases, the estimated HEV range between 0.5742 and 0.6955. The computed average HEV was 0.6303, the coefficient of fitness (R2) for all cases range between 0.9552 and 0.9787, while the computed average value was 0.9680. The HEV greater than 0.5 estimated for all cases is an indication of positive con-elation called Persistent. It expresses the fact that there are extended periods in which the traffic inflow to the university community deviated from the long term mean. This information is useful for vehicle garage design. For reliable estimates of the average HEV for design purposes, the study period should be extended to a whole week or an academic session. " 1 results 1
- "Interest is growing daily on the utilization of bamboo as a reliable supplement to wood in furniture production to mitigate the scarcity of wood raw material supply. This study explored the viability of recycling bamboo recovered from scaffold into intermediate raw material for indoor furniture production. Strips were processed from the recovered Bambusa vulgaris Schrad and were subjected to conventional treatment methods with some modification to simplify the treatment. The durability of the treated strip was evaluated in accordance with ASTM D2017. A storage shelf was designed and fabricated using laminates made from the bamboo strips. The diameter and wall thickness of the recovered bamboo culms ranges from 6.00cm -10.00cm and 10.00mm- 12.70mm respectively. The result shows that ordinary soaking of the strips in water for 3 weeks could make the strips to be sufficiently resistant to termite attack but fairly resistant to powder post beetle. Application of kerosene as a secondary treatment will make the resistance of the bamboo strip effective to powder post beetle. A Complete-Knock-Down (CDK) Magazine shelf suitable for office use was fabricated using road side carpentry workshop tools. This study was able to recycle Bambusa vulgaris recovered from scaffolding material into suitable raw material input for the manufacturing of indoor furniture." 1 results 1
- "Mathematics has diverse applications as decision making tool. This study investigated the use of a proposed pure mathematical formulation (i.e. excluding human factor) for citing appropriately the location of political capital ci of an inhabited designated area. Digitized data of Scale map of Nigeria as a case study was used as input to a FORTRAN 90 programme codes of an equivalent least squares method mathematical formulation. The resulting simultaneous equations involving the political capital city coordinates as unknown variables were solved using Gauss Elimination Algorithm. The political capital city Cartesian coordinate prescribed as (26, 24) in grids unit for the studied case of scale map of Nigeria compared visually satisfactorily with Abuja location on the Map. The Nigeria land area cover was under-estimated by 2.3% referencing 923,768 sq km obtained from Microsoft Encarta Premium (2009). Similarly the Nigeria coastline was estimated. as 25.3% of the country's estimated perimeter (3369 krn). This mathematical tool can be used to cite the centrally located capital city or capital city relocations economically, timely, accurately and reliably. This programme can also be used for citing of capital cities for other countries and center of any irregular shapes on two dimensional plane. " 1 results 1

This study focuses the development and investigation of Runge-Kutta coefficients dependent stability polynomial for the second, third and fourth orders Runge-Kutta schemes. The development utilized matrix inversion operation procedure that involves determinant and cofactors computation of relevant matrix. The validation was made referencing the standard result of [1] and extended to several cases. The resulting polynom ials obtained consist of combination of the scheme coefficients with increasing power of time step that follows a rhyme pattern. The validation test case result agreed perfectly with test standard result. Selected studied version of different schemes shows wide variation in the shape of stability curve and region bounded. It is interesting to note that the popular second, third and•fourth order schemes have stability curve that bounded larger region than their respective counterpart. It is concluded that the study results can be utilized as reliable platform for stability analysis for different versions of the second, third and fourth order schemes. " 1 results 1
- "The challenges of ever-increasing demand for university education in the face of inadequate human and infrastructural resources and rapidly increasing population have necessitated distance learning programmes. This study evaluated Universities of Ibadan and Lagos Distance Learning Programmes. Samples of 200 participants (100 graduates. and 100 employers) were purposively selected. Two research questions guided the research. Two validated instruments with reliability coefficients of 0.82 and O.86 respectively, were used to collect data. Data were analysed using chi square and independent t-test. Findings revealed that graduates of UIDLC performed significantly better than their ULDLI counterparts, in terms of class of degree obtained: a chi-square value of (1632.18) which is significant at 0.05, (p < 0.05). This shows that there is a statistical significant difference in the performance of UIDLC distance learning education graduates and their ULDLI counterparts and it is to the advantage of UIDLC . In addition, graduates of both programmes were making similar positive impact in their work environment as the difference in their job performance is not statistically significant. The two distance learning institutions strove to achieve the objectives of providing quality education through distance learning mode of instruction in educating distance learners to enhance learner's productivity.Recommendations made were: the two institutions must aim at improving teachinglearning resources, learner-support services and establishing human resource development centres to aid develop strong and holistic human resources in order to improve quality of their graduates and also position distance education in Nigeria for international recognition." 1 results 1
- "The study sought to construct and test a seven-variable causal & model for achievement in Senior Secondary (SS) English Language. The variables include those of the teacher (teaching style, attitude to teaching, understanding of English Language, teaching experience, educational qualification and gender) as well as students’ achievement in English Language. The study made use of 900 SS III students! selected by means of stratified cluster sampling and their 90 English Language teachers. These subjects responded to four valid and reliable instruments to generate data (that were subjected to multiple regression and path analysis procedures in order to estimate the coefficient of structural equations of the proposed model. The results:- indicate that the most meaningful causal model is tenable. The six predictor variables account for 52% (directly) and 48% (indirectly) of the variability in the criterion. The implications of these findings for English Language curricula development, teacher training programmes and classroom practice are discussed. " 1 results 1
- "This contribution is on the development of a neurofuzzy model that aids in capturing imprecision and uncertainty in the. various road bump parameters. Road bumps are structures built on roads to act as obstructions to vehicles plying these roads. The neurofuzzy methodology is used to check the vehicle speeds to acceptable standards. Particular use is made of neurofuzzy since it is an improvement on the traditional model proposed earlier in the literature. The work is motivated by the need for a more reliable and easily understandable methodology that guides decision makers in making correct decisions in a timely manner The results obtained demonstrate that it is feasible to apply the model in practice. The paper is new in that it proposes a novel approach to quantifying the results of road bump design in order to achieve worthy and reliable result. " 1 results 1
