Enabling equitable access to public transport information to enhance hybrid system use in Cape Town, South Africa
Published 2023“…A stated preference choice model was applied (n=501) to investigate what minimum information is required to make use of the hybrid network to access mobility opportunities in non-routine scenarios. …”

Network intrusion prevention in the evolved packet core utilising software defined networks and network function virtualisation
Published 2020“…This research aims to utilise SDN and NFV to mitigate this issue by only allowing for critical network paths to be traversable in a virtualised CN without triggering alerts and node quarantines. The CN of a MN controls/manages all network traffic flows through the mobile network from User Equipment (UE) to a backhaul network (e.g., the Internet). …”

From Home to Abroad: The Intergenerational Impact of Household Member Migration on Women’s Economic & Social Empowerment in Egypt
Published 2025“…Determined through Principle Component Analysis (PCA) of panel data from Egypt Labor Market Panel Surveys in 2018 and 2023, composite indices of social and economic empowerment serve as dependent variables in an IV 2SLS regression model. The model assesses whether household member migration, proxied by migration prevalence on the district (qism) level as an IV, causes a significant increase in social and economic empowerment among Egyptian women while accounting for factors such as marital status, education, and household characteristics. …”

Axial segregation of granular flows in rotating drums
Published 2023“…We show that grains composed of different material properties which are heuristically argued to manifest as differences in frictional properties at the continuum scale-diffuse into axial bands as a consequence of concentration fluctuations in the free surface layer caused by friction- limited mobility. The model is composed of two new ingredients that success- fully recover the well-known phenomenon of axial banding and subsequent band coarsening in the long-time evolution: (1) A Bagnoldian stress assumption facilitated band formation at drum fill levels < 50% that have hitherto not been possible with a Newtonian shear stress ansatz, through the formation of an asymmetric free surface profile that is experimentally verified by the nuclear imaging technique of Positron Emission Particle Tracking. (2) The geometric slope corresponding to the gravity-driven axial flux between adjacent bands is (binomially) expanded to second order thereby ensuring band coarsening in the long-time limit for all boundary conditions investigated. …”
