An investigation into the effect of potential modifiers on the flotation of a copper sulphide ore
Published 2019“…Chemical control of redox potential (Eh) using potential modifiers may be exploited in flotation processes of sulphide minerals to improve their floatability, recoveries and grades; owing to the formation of a hydrophobic dithiolate or metal thiolate in the case of thiol collectors. …”

Stable isotope ecology of South African kelp forests
Published 2019“…The species composition of these communities has been shown to be spatially variable along the South African coast, controlled by abiotic processes and species interactions. Despite their importance in the southern Benguela Current Large Marine Ecosystem (BCLME), large-scale research directed towards these habitats has largely waned over the past 30–40 years, prompting a renewed focus on these systems. …”

Modulation of stress response in Rice via genome editing of splicing factors
Published 2019“…Among the genes that showed an altered splicing the homozygous Os-RS29 / homozygous Os-RS33 double mutant are the Eukaryotic Initiation Factors (eIFs) along with some mRNA processing and splice factors. These factors were found to interact with a number of WD40-repeat proteins whose expression is changed after salt treatment. …”

Extension and verification of the PWM_SA model to incorporate SANI-specific bioprocesses using experimental data from the Hong Kong SANI saline sewage treatment pilot plant.
Published 2025“…The model structure includes three key components: (1) a COD-based i anaerobic hydrolysis kinetics module that simulates the removal of biodegradable COD and sulfate under varying Hydraulic Retention Times (HRT) and Sludge Retention Times (SRT); (2) a stoichiometric module that balances key elements (C, H, O, N, P, S), COD, and charge, which enables the prediction of concentrations for essential parameters—including alkalinity, COD, sulfate (SO4 2 – ), sulfide (H2S), nitrate (NO3 – ), and Free Saline Ammonia (FSA)—across sulfate reduction and autotrophic denitrification stages; and (3) a mixed weak acid/base chemistry module, which accounts for inorganic carbon (HCO3 – ) and sul fide species (H2S/HS– ), ensuring accurate pH predictions. The biochemical processes for sulfate reduction and autotrophic denitrification were integrated into the matrix along with their corresponding stoichiometric and kinetic pa rameters, offering a detailed representation of the biochemical interactions and transfor mations occurring in the system. …”
