- One of the several purposes of education is the acquisition of knowledge required to re fine man in terms of behaviour and attitudes. Educational process has as one of its focuses, the affective domain, which is expected to influence man's attitudes, behaviour and character. Several works had been carried out on attitudes of man but not many had been done in the aspect of human nature as a factor that can influence moral behaviours. Philosophy comes handy in the inculcation of right moral actions as its component of axiology, through the aspect of ethics, encourages cultivation of right and good attitudes in interpersonal relations to guarantee security and development of the society. In ensuring this, understanding the nature of man as one of the contents of Philosophy of Education becomes expedient in order to find out good approaches by which thè process of education can build right moral attitudes and actions in man for the purpose of securing and developing the society. This paper attempts to examine in a philosophical discourse, thè place of human nature in cultivating right moral attitudes. It discusses concepts like hedonism, rationalism and virtue. This is to justify the essence of educational process as an instrument per excellence to achieve security and development aspirations of the society. The paper recommends among several others the need to structure contents of each lesson in the classrooms towards acquisition of appropriate social values and virtues that can enable learners become rational in their decision making. It also suggested that a philosophical understanding of the nature of man will enable teachers as well as school counsellors to be more effective in their professional responsibilities. The paper concludes by stating that an understanding of the nature of man and its philosophical implications will enable educators practice their profession efficiently to attain society’s desired goals of secured and developed environment. 2 results 2

- The economic principles of deregulation and privatization were first introduced in Nigeria in the 1980s through the policy of structural adjustment programme (SAP). Since then, government monopolies had disappeared in many industries and over 85 public enterprises (PES) in mining, education, health, agriculture, transportation and telecommunication were transferred, either fully or partially to private owners. The dangers of these principles, however, hardly ever occur to the average Nigerian until recently when the government declared a no-going-back decision to privatize the downstream sector of the petroleum industry. Today questions are being asked about the essence of privatization in Nigeria and it is the focus of this paper too to ask probing questions into the nature, practice and the context of deregulation and privatization in Nigeria. The inquiry centers on the benefits and the expected challenges that have come to characterize the ideas of the two concepts. However, from the content analysis of literature reviewed, the authors showed that the outcome of deregulation and privatization in Nigeria is mixed generally, having both positive and negative socio-economic consequences. Therefore, the paper concluded with recommendations to reform the reform through the involvement of labour unions, increased socio-economic stability and the establishment of more efficient regulatory agencies. 2 results 2
- The study quantitatively determine the impact of policy changes on technical efficiency of small scale food crop farmers in Ondo State, Nigeria, using the stochastic frontier methodology. Given the specifications of the Cobb-Douglas stochastic models, the result shows that the elasticity of mean value of farm output is an increasing function of land, labour and implementation. The mean value of output is also estimated to be an increasing function of agrochemicals and seeds. The results indicated that an increasing returns-to scale exists among the farmers. The analysis shows a wide variation in the estimated technical efficiencies ranging between 0.22 and 0.89. The result of stimulation on policy variation shows thatthe level of technical efficiency would significantly increase with rising level of education, farming experience and amount of credit used and decline with the age of the farmers. 2 results 2
- Various efforts in the industry and academia are underway to explore the possible benefits of Virtual Reality (VR) in construction. This paper provides an overview of recent amples of successful adoption of VR technology as applications in construction. The paper also provides an outline of what Virtual Reality (VR) is, and presents a work jointly carried out at the Departments of Architecture and Computer Science of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). The aim of the joint research is to investigate the efficiency and effectiveness of” virtual reality drawing at all stages o f a project, from initial conceptual design through detailed design, planning and preparation, to construction completion. The methodology employed was the critical examination of different building project drawings developed by the use of different computer aided drawing software such as AutoCAD, and comparing them with drawings generated by virtual reality software packages such as Vizx3D modeler. The result obtained shows that VR software provides avenue for easy manipulation of the drawing details thereby increasing the management of the construction process 2 results 2
