  1. Contraceptive histories: a comparative analysis of switching behaviour in five East African countries by Kisaakye, Peter

    Published 2019
“…The reproductive calendar data that are collected retrospectively provides a better mechanism to understand the trajectory of how women adopt, and immediately switch, contraception than if current-status data were utilised. Three important findings emerge from the analyses: First, contraceptive use being the most important driver of fertility decline, the slow fertility transition that is evident in the five countries can be largely attributable to limited immediate switching of contraception following discontinuation. …”

  4. Determining the solubility of haematin and haem-drug complexes at relevant pH in aqueous medium via spectrophotometric titration by Soogary, Ghannish

    Published 2024
“…While the ongoing emergence of resistance to existing chemotherapies has driven efforts to discover new antimalarial chemotypes, interest in the quinoline drugs has not waned. The two most important classes of quinoline-based drugs, namely the 4-aminoquinolines and the quinoline methanols — represented in this study by chloroquine (CQ) and quinidine (QD), respectively — are widely accepted to act against the most virulent malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum, via the haemozoin inhibition pathway within the acidic digestive vacuole (DV) of the pathogen. …”

    Published 2024
“…The high mean dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP) concentrations, in the form of orthophosphate, indicate eutrophic and hypertrophic conditions in most sections of the Chatty River. The mean nitrogen concentrations, in the form of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), on the other hand, were below the eutrophic threshold in most sections of the Chatty River. …”
