- Absence of acquisition of vocational skills on the part of the youths has been considered the bane of the economy of many African societies, particularly Nigeria. The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) schemes were the intervention strategies introduced by the government in its frantic effort to find a lasting solution to youth unemployment. In the light of the above, the study looked at the NDE schemes as a source of provider of employment through youth empowerment schemes in Oyo State, Nigeria. The descriptive research design of the expost-facto type was adopted for the study. The population for the study comprised all the youths who have benefited from the vocational skill acquisition and small scale enterprise schemes of the NDE in Oyo State, Nigeria. Random sampling technique was used to select 450 youths who benefited from the vocational skill acquisition scheme and the small scale enterprise schemes of the NDE. The instrument used was a questionnaire tagged "Skill Acquisition and Youth Empowerment Questionnaire" (SAYEQ) with four sub-sections. Two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance and the finding showed that there is significant impact of NDE vocational skill acquisition training scheme on youth empowerment (F(l.398) = 46. 769; P,<.05); there is significant impact of NDE small scale enterprises scheme on youth empowerment (F(l.398) = 99.284; P, <.05). It is recommended that industrial social worker should sensitise the government as to how best they can use these programmes (VSS and SSE) as agents of change in the life, socialisation and economic empowerment of youths within their communities and the nation at large. 3 results 3

- "This research work investigated the modeling of Von Mises stress in LNG Spherical Carbon Steel Storage tank using assumed displacement Finite Element analysis based on shallow shell triangular elements. Using equations of elasticity, constant thickness carbon steel spherical storage tanks were subjected to different loading conditions. This paper stresses the need for proper definition of shallow element using sector angles to obtain the shallowness. The shallow spherical triangular element has five degrees of freedom at each of its corner node, which are the essential external degrees of freedom. The assumed displacement fields of these shallow triangular elements satisfied the exact requirement of rigid body modes of motion. The FORTRAN 90 programming language was used for the programme coding to solve finite element equations resulting from the model while Von Mises stresses distribution within the spherical storage tank shell subjected to different internal pressures were determined. The results showed that the use of non-shallow elements due to improper sector angles resulted in unreliable results while real shallow elements produced results that tallied with ASME Section VIII Div 1, Part UG values. - Cancer can affect any part of the body and occur in people of any age or sex. Cancerous growth can be contained if medical help is sought at the first sign of its symptom. This study examined the impact of cancer education intervention on knowledge, attitude and preventive behaviour of students in selected female secondary schools in Ibadan. The instruments used for the study were a self- developed cancer education package, a breast self-examination model and a cancer knowledge attitude and behaviour inventory (CKABI) which was tested with Crombach alpha and a reliability coefficient of r = 0.96 was obtained. Cancer education was found to significantly influence the experimental group's knowledge, attitude and cancer preventive behaviour. It was recommended that cancer education should be included in the health education curriculum of secondary schools, to equip students on how to adopt cancer preventive attitude and behaviour. 2 results 2
