| Summary: | Through international institutions the international community has played a major role in the Palestinian territories, particularly since the Oslo Accords in 1993, in formulating a neoliberal framework for political and economic development for a potential Palestinian state and economy. In this schema, a neoliberal conceptualization of Palestine means that no state is actually required to induce into existence the neoliberal condition in Palestine. This thesis considers the role of international institutions in inducing the neoliberal condition into the conceptualization of Palestine. By utilizing a neo-Gramscian analytical framework I ascertained that international institutions ensure neoliberal values in configuring and conceptualizing Palestine through unequal international agreements, policy recommendations, and development projects. |
