Summary:Between the 4th millennium and 1st millennium BC, different communities inhabited the region located within the First to the Third Cataracts. These groups obtained, stored, and distributed foodstuff and commodities in various ways. This paper presents archaeological data from this area and period to shed light into storage strategies and facilities in use during this period on the upper course of the Nile Valley in an attempt to better understand subsistence strategies and economies.
