description The rapid rise of Instagram influencers has transformed the ways young women engage with media, shaping perceptions of appearance, lifestyle, success, and everyday behavior. This study examines how frequent exposure to Instagram influencers affects self-esteem, internalization of beauty and lifestyle ideals, perceived realism of influencer content, and behavioral and consumption habits among young Egyptian females. The study explores participants’ lived experiences, interpretations, and coping strategies in relation to influencer culture. Perceived influencer credibility emerged as a key factor for females to follow them, influencers viewed as relatable, specialized, and transparent were more likely to inspire adaptive behaviors, whereas those promoting unattainable standards were associated with diminished self-perception and loss of trust. Also, the study demonstrates that influencer content significantly shapes consumption patterns and behavioral habits. While some influencers provide practical alternatives that reduce pressure, others reinforce consumerism and unrealistic expectations, particularly among younger audiences. Participants in this study emphasized on the need for media literacy and early educational interventions. The findings highlight the multifaceted impact of Instagram influencers on young Egyptian women, underscoring the importance of critical engagement, and awareness-based approaches to mitigate negative psychological and behavioral outcomes. The study contributes to the limited literature on influencer culture in the Egyptian context and calls for future research examining long-term effects on identity formation, mental health, and social behavior.
