From 1995 to 1998 the popular business press regularly reported that black-influenced (BI) and black-owned (BO) companies outperformed the all-share index (ALSI) and the financial and industrial index (F&I). However, popular business press reports were not necessarily based on sound theoretical and/or empirical evidence.
