Down syndrome (DS) is the most common chromosomal cause of intellectual disability and in the South African (SA) mixed ancestry population a prevalence of 1.54 in 1000 live births have been reported. Children with DS have a unique variety of health concerns and therefore regularly need to be followed-up.
