Our thesis is that the prophet in the Old Testament period was an ordinary man with a specific ministry. His ministry was both to communicate the word of God to man and also to be consulted by man about the hidden things of life. We consider some of the many factors which went to constitute the prophet the man he was and thus enable him to have that assurance of being God's spokesman.
