| spelling | oai:open.uct.ac.za:11427/3391 An in vitro model of mouse corneal endothelial development Mohammed Mubeen Goolam. Goolam, Mohammed Mubeen Kidson, S Medicine Includes abstract. Includes bibliographical references. The principle aim of this study was to derive an in vitro model that could be used to study corneal endothelial development. This was done by investigating methods to induce a mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition (MET) in mouse periocular mesenchyme cells to drive them to form fully differentiated adult corneal endothelial cells in culture. Periocular mesenchyme surrounding the optic cup was dissected from E12.5 and E13.5 mouse embryos and immortalised with the SV40 large T-antigen. Two cell lines were thus derived and named E12.5POM and E13.5POM respectively. 2014-07-29T09:03:39Z 2014-07-29T09:03:39Z 2012 Master Thesis Masters MSc http://hdl.handle.net/11427/3391 eng application/pdf Department of Medicine Faculty of Health Sciences University of Cape Town |
