Of people co-infected with HIV and tuberculosis (TB) globally, 79% are in Sub-Saharan Africa. While scale-up of antiretroviral treatment (ART) is reducing mortality in the region, there is little direct evidence of the magnitude of its effect on mortality in people coinfected with TB, or on TB treatment outcomes.
