| spelling | oai:open.uct.ac.za:11427/5529 The development and validation of a geometrically simplified and an accurate finite element model of the wrist joint Iyer, Yolande-Leigh Nurick, Gerald N Mechanical Engineering Includes bibliographical references (p. 189-195). The injury to the wrist joint resulting from a fall onto the outstretched hand was simulated using two models. The two validated three-dimensional wrist joint models were created using the general purpose finite element software, ABAQUS. The first model, a Geometrically Simplified half symmetry Model (GSM), was created using an approximation of real bone geometry, with material properties that could be varied. 2014-07-31T11:21:37Z 2014-07-31T11:21:37Z 2009 Master Thesis Masters MSc http://hdl.handle.net/11427/5529 eng application/pdf Department of Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment University of Cape Town |
