The relationship between financial development and economic growth has received a lot of attention in economic literature. Most of the findings indicate a positive impact of financial development on economic growth. Despite its under developed financial sector since independence, Botswana has been experiencing a steady economic growth. This has been mainly attributed to mineral deposits which may not be sustainable in the long run.
