Mental performance consists of cognitive components, such as memory capacity, motor function, or decision making, and psychological components, such as personality traits, psychological well-being, or coping strategies. While certain personality traits have been shown to be associated with specific strengths and weaknesses in an individual’s cognitive abilities only few studies have been done to investigate this relationship in athletes.
