This dissertation describes the application of two multivariable frequency domain techniques in order to design controllers for a “flotation plant”. A flotation plant simulator was designed and constructed at the University of Cape Town. The design of the multivariable controllers was based on a linear time invariant model (in s-domain) developed for the simulator. The two frequency domain techniques, Characteristic Loci (CL) and Inverse Nyquist Array (INA), were implemented in the form of CAD packages. The INA CAD package had already been written at the university but the CL CAD package had to be developed before the design of the controllers could proceed. 2014-10-11T12:05:46Z 2014-10-11T12:05:46Z 1989 Master Thesis Masters MSc http://hdl.handle.net/11427/8330 eng application/pdf Department of Electrical Engineering Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment University of Cape Town
