Scholars have also considered the issue from various angles at different forums. However, an area which seems to have been largely ignored in the entire discourse is the cultural value of satire in Yorubaland. That is, how satire can serve as a panacea to political corruption in Nigeria. There is no denying the fact that corruption has contributed in no small measure to the present level of poverty in Nigeria due to the unequal distribution of resources meant for the generality of the people. This dastardly act has accounted for the untold hardship on the masses that constitute the majority. This study therefore, makes effort to consider the importance of satire in Yorubaland and how it can be used to address political corruption among the stakeholders in Nigerian politics. | ||
