Afrikaans: Hierdie literatuurstudie ondersoek pastorale groepsrouberading vanuit ‘n postmoderne narratiewe benadering met ‘n epistemologie van sosiale konstruksionisme. Die doel was om die voordele van groepsberading vir mense in die rouproses te ondersoek. Insigte uit die vakgebiede van psigologie en sosiologie met betrekking tot die rouproses, rouberading, sowel as die dinamiek van groepe, is benut. Verskeie teorieë en modelle wat betrekking het op verlies en die rouproses is bespreek met die doel om insigte te verkry vir die ontwerp van die groepsberadingsprogram vir mense in die rouproses. Aangesien bestaande groepsrouberading programme in ander kontekste ontstaan het, en kultuur, taal en konteks ‘n belangrike rol speel as dit kom by ‘n diep ontwrigtende en emosionele aangeleentheid soos die dood van ‘n geliefde, het die studie ook ten doel gehad om ‘n program vir narratiewe pastorale groepsrouberading in Afrikaans, vir Afrikaans-talige persone in die Suid Afrikaanse konteks te ontwerp. English: This literature review examines pastoral group grief counselling from a postmodern narrative approach with an epistemology of social constructionism. The aim was to explore the benefits of group counselling for people in the grieving process. Insights from the disciplines of psychology and sociology with regard to the grieving process, grief counselling, as well as the dynamics of groups, were utilised. Various theories and models pertaining to loss and the grieving process were discussed with the aim of gaining insights for the design of the group counselling programme for people in the grieving process. Since existing group grief counselling programmes have emerged in other contexts, and culture, language and context play an important role when it comes to a deeply disruptive and emotional matter such as the death of a loved one, the study also aimed to design a programme for narrative pastoral group grief counselling in Afrikaans, for Afrikaans-speaking persons in the South African context.
