In South Africa the youth being the subject of the study is brought to the fore to examine the plight of their existence especially considering the impact that they will have on the future on the nation. The central argument is to argue against Euro- American epistemes by means of community-based education to foster black people particularly the youth with an alternative that is relevant to them and their experiences. The research paper examines the concerns of quality education, the degradation of oneself and the loss of identity. The reason for these points is to foster development and transformation which the study attempts to do through education. A type of education that is community-based from the lens of black liberation theology and Christian ethics. The approach used is one that is theory based by means of historical research, non-experimental and comparative methodology. It is such contributions that will unpack the role of education and efforts towards development and transformation.
