Hierdie proefskrif is 'n beskeie poging om in die Suid Afrikaanse studiekring, hier spesifiek op die terrein van die beeldende kuns, eerstens kleur as skilderkunstige element te bestudeer, terminologie en begrippe te ondersoek en meer helderheid daaroor te verkry soos wat dit by die estetiese betrek word: tweedens om kleur in die werk van Gregoire Boonzaier te ondersoek. This study is an attempt to firstly, within the South African study circle of visual arts, look at colour as a painting element, investigate terms as well as concepts, and get more clarity as to how this form part of aesthetics. The second purpose is to investigate the use of colour in the work of Gregoire Boonzaier.
