This essay presents the findings of an action research study done in partial fulfilment of a Master's degree in education. The essay records and explores 'dirty learning', an innovative approach to teaching on the World Wide Web. The essay proposes that if the Internet is to be used successfully as a medium for teaching in High Schools, then it is essential that educators adopt an innovative pedagogy when using the Internet. The main contribution of the study is to identify the roles played by various parties in an online learning environment and to suggest a model on which educators at a secondary level can structure future online learning environments.
