Resonansieverstrooiing deur die eerste opgewekte toestande van 1 39La, 20 3Tl en 198Hg is met behulp van dietermiese metode bestudeer. In die eerste hoofstuk van hierdie proefskrif is die teorie vir elektromagnetiese kernoorgange behandel sover dit vir die bespreking van die eksperimentele gegewens nodig is. 'n Algemene oorsig oor die teorie van resonansiefluoressensie en eksperimentele metodes volg in die tweede hoofstuk. Die eksperimentele resultate word in die lanste hoofstuk bespreek: In die geval van die 166-keV-toestand van 139La is resonansieverstrooiing die eerste keer waargeneem. Die stetistiese variasie op die verkrygde resultaat is egter te groat vir 'n eenduidige uitspraak oor die lewensduur van hierdie toestand. Die berekende onderste grens van f 0 ~ 3.ox10-9 sek, egter, is heeltemal versoenba2r met waardes verkry deur vertraagde kofnsidensies. vir die 279-keV-vlak van 20 3T1 is die rigtingskorrelasiefunksie en die lewensduur bepaal.
