Stellenbosch University. Facutly of Medicine and Health Sciences. Department of Medicine. Division of Clinical Pharmacology. Chromosome polymorphism -- Male patients -- South Africa Chromosome polymorphism -- Incidence -- South Africa UCTD Thesis (MMed)--Stellenbosch University, 2014. ENGLISH SUMMARY : Thiopurine medications e.g. Azathioprine and 6-Mercaptopurine are metabolized by the thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) enzyme. This enzyme activity is highly variable due to polymorphism of the TPMT gene. TPMT genotyping can be performed to tailor the treatment with thiopurine medications specifically to the patient's TPMT activity. AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING : Geen opsomming beskikbaar.
