ENGLISH SUMMARY : The impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on the world of work is all-encompassing. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is defined by its speed, scale and systems impact. It is critically important to approach the Fourth Industrial Revolution from a human-centred and values-based perspective. In determining the skills needed for the world of work, this research explored the impact of digital transformation and VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) contexts on the world of work in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. To move forward successfully, organisations need to be agile and embrace the principles of HR 4.0. These strategies align with a human-centred approach for navigating the Fourth Industrial Revolution. A human-centred approach requires a particular rationale for skills and a way forward to ensure that humans are equipped with the requisite relevant skills. In the analysis and synthesis of the literature and relevant publications of key industry authors, supported by relevant publications of key consultancy firms, a clear picture emerged of relevant and emerging skills required for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the current and future world of work. These skills are general sociobehavioural or human-centric skills which are relevant across industries and environments. The skills can be clustered into a taxonomy of five broad groups: cognitive skills, social skills, learning skills, resilience skills and leadership skills.
