ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This thesis introduces a standardised Dynamic Single Flux Quantum (DSFQ) cell library for superconducting digital circuits. The cell library includes the DSFQ AND, OR, NOT and XOR cells. Furthermore, the thesis presents a novel Pipelined Rapid Single Flux Quantum (PRSFQ) architecture which allows for the construction of pipelines which do not require an external clock. PRSFQ also supports wave pipelining, in which multiple sequential inputs are sent into the pipeline before an output has been received. This is achieved through taking advantage of clockless DSFQ cells which have a small tolerance for skewed inputs of about 10ps. The thesis culminates in the demonstration of a simulated PRSFQ 2-1 MUX, as well as a PRSFQ Full Adder, both of which can be wave pipelined at a rate of 50GHz AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie tesis stel ’n gestandaardiseerde ’Dynamic Single Flux Quantum’ (DSFQ) selbiblioteek vir supergeleidende digitale stroombane bekend. Die selbiblioteek sluit die DSFQ EN, OF, NIE en XOF selle in. Verder stel die tesis ’n nuwe gePyplynde ’Rapid Single Flux Quantum’ (PRSFQ) argitektuur voor wat die konstruksie van gepyplynde stroombane moontlik maak sonder ’n eksterne klok. PRSFQ ondersteun ook golfpypleiding, waarin verskeie opeenvolgende insette in die gepyplynde stelsel ingevoer word voordat ’n uitset ontvang is. Dit word bereik deur voordeel te trek uit kloklose DSFQ selle wat ’n klein toleransie het vir verskuifde insette van ongeveer 10ps. Die tesis bereik ’n hoogtepunt in die demonstrasie en simulasie van ’n PRSFQ 2-1 MUX en ’n PRSFQ 2-Bit volpteller, wat altwee teen ’n tempo van 50GHz met golfpypleiding gebruik kan word.
