ENGLISH ABSTRACT: current generation of young individuals is growing up in a society that is vastly different from that of their parents. Screens have become an integral part of daily life (Digital Wellness Lab, 2022). Digital wellness, which refers to the healthy interaction of individuals with technology in a technologically driven world, encompasses physical, emotional, and social well-being (Kraft, 2020). The main objective of the study was to understand how parental involvement regarding screen time relates to the digital wellness of their children in early childhood. It included deeper insight into the reasons for allowing screen time, how parents regulated screen time usage and the security of digital media to explore how children’s social and emotional well-being were being met by means of digital wellness. This study utilised a basic qualitative research approach grounded in an interpretivist paradigm. An exploratory case study was conducted involving six participants who were selected through purposive sampling. Data-collection techniques included a qualitative questionnaire to gather demographic and background information and individual semi-structured interviews that were guided by themes emerging from the data collected through the questionnaire. Qualitative thematic content analysis was applied to analyse and interpret the data. The findings indicate that the most prevalent parenting style among the participants was digital mentorship. The study further revealed that parental guidance on screen time had a positive effect in certain areas, but there were several areas where parental guidance fell short in promoting digital wellness in their children. This research contributes to the growing body of literature that examines the effect of parental guidance on screen time on digital wellness during early childhood.
