ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This project explores the work of a Sport for Development Programme (SDP), it endeavours to attain gender equality, and the possibility of using sport as a tool for social change. It delves into the organisation’s attempt to achieve these aims through the perspectives and perceptions of the 12 participants involved in the programme. This study used a qualitative approach, utilising participant observation, focus group interviews, and semi-structured interviews. Through engaging with the relevant sociological literature, the findings suggest that social and cultural reproduction regarding gender has a major influence on achieving gender equality, especially in the sporting sphere. The study reveals that further education within Sport for Development programmes could assist in the successful implementation of gender conversations and gender equality. These conversations could further assist in tackling the stereotypical gender norms which stem from society and become associated with sporting performance.
