The study begins by examining the role of media in changing public awareness and consumer behaviour, particularly in terms of environmental sustainability. The study uses a qualitative content analysis to investigate repeating themes and key messages in media texts by examining the language, images, and narratives. The findings show how the media influences public perceptions of fashion waste by emphasising narratives about responsibility, consumer culture, and environmental effect. The study also goes into the obstacles the media confront in effectively covering sustainability topics, as well as the role that digital platforms play in encouraging sustainability debate. By linking these findings to broader theoretical frameworks, the study contributes to a better understanding of the relationship between media portrayal, fashion, and environmental sustainability in South Africa. The findings have significant implications for media practice, policy, and future research in the subject. AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Geen Afrikaanse opsomming beskikbaar nie.
