The study employs a qualitative empirical approach, conducting unstructured interviews with twenty-one pastors from ten evangelical denominations. Theoretical frameworks from practical theology guide the research, which explores the challenges pastors face, including ministerial trauma, theological conflict, and the need for a paradigm shift towards a spirituality of imperfection. Through interdisciplinary analysis, integrating theological, psychological, and sociocultural perspectives, the study highlights the complex interplay between spiritual resilience, emotional health, and societal factors that affect pastors' well-being. Key findings emphasise the importance of fostering a supportive church environment, incorporating rest and renewal practices, and promoting a theological framework grounded in grace and community. The study advocates for a practical, holistic and multifaceted pastoral approach which transforms pastoral training and denominational structures to prioritise ministerial well-being. Recommendations are provided for evangelical denominations, practitioners, and the field of practical theology in South Africa. The researcher aims to disseminate these findings through workshops, community forums, and academic publications, contributing valuable insights for both local and global evangelical communities.
