Spoornet is one of South-Africa’s largest railway companies. It is very important to operate the railway system as cost effectively as possible. A large portion of the railway operates from 3 kV DC traction supplies. One method of cost saving is to utilise the regenerative braking mechanism of the electric trains. 2006-11-02T07:18:03Z 2010-06-01T08:32:23Z 2006-11-02T07:18:03Z 2010-06-01T08:32:23Z 2005-12 Thesis http://hdl.handle.net/10019.1/1751 University of Stellenbosch 8395362 bytes application/pdf application/pdf Stellenbosch : University of Stellenbosch
