Stellenbosch University. Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Dept. of Psychology. Vocational interests Career development Dissertations -- Psychology Thesis (M.A.) -- University of Stellenbosch, 1997. The relation between dysfunctional career beliefs and career maturity was nvestigated. The Career Myths Scale (CMS) and the Career Development Questionnaire (CDQ) were administered to third year university students (N=248). PRINCALS ( a categorical data technique) was performed on both the CMS and the CDQ. On the CMS two relevant dimensions were obtained which explained only 34% of the variance of the variables. On the CDQ one relevant dimension was obtained which explained only 16% of the variance of the variables. One of the subjects was an outlier which affected the analysis. This case was therefore removed from the analysis.
