The purpose of this study was to verify the relationship between the development of player self-esteem and the application of a model of 1 0 instructional strategies by sport coaches. The 10 strategies identified in the model were drawn from a comprehensive review of the literature. The subjects were junior cricketers (N=222) between 13 and 15 years of age who participated in a 10-week school cricket season. For the purpose of data analysis, there were divided into four groups -- two under 15 groups and two under 14 groups with each age group sub-divided into players of higher cricket ability and lesser cricket ability.
