'Sunlite' is an early nectarine cultivar that initiates large numbers of blossoms and tend to set exceptionally heavy crops under South African conditions. To achieve the optimum fruit size, this cultivar is usually thinned by hand during bloom, followed by another hand thinning approximately 40 days after full bloom. Since hand thinning is extremely expensive and time consuming, two new chemicals, Armothin® and Relax®, were evaluated as thinning agents for 'Sunlite' nectarines.
