ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The present investigation is an attempt to give ass complete an account as possible of the morphology of the nasal organ and the ductus nasolacrimalis of lizards, and to determine the extent to which the comparative anatomy of these organs illuminates the existing taxanomic "systems" of the order. Unfortunately representatives of the smaller families: the Uroplatidae, Feyliniidae, Dibamidae, Pygopodidae, Helodermatidae and Xenosauridae were not available. Since these are all, however, highly specialized forms , their omission does not seriously affect the general conclusions drawn.
