A survey of 89 managers was conducted to determine if there is a significant relationship between creativity and Kolb's divergent learning style. The tests that were used were the Belbin Team Role instrument, the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF), the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (Figural A) (TTCT), the Structured Objective Rorschach Test (SORT) and the Learning Preference Profile (LPP). Intercorrelations were calculated in order to determine if there is a relationship between the different measures of creativity as derived from the 16PF, SORT and the TTCT. The intercorrelation between the creativity formula (Cattell et al., 1974) and the SORT traits (activity potential - theoretical - and individualistic - scores) were not significant. Intercorrelations were also calculated between the SORT traits and the scores of the TTCT (fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration) and were found to show no significance. Intercorrelations were calculated between the TTCT scores and the creativity formula (16PF). These results also showed the absence of a significant relationship and it could thus be said that there is no significant relationship between the different measures of creativity (derived from the 16PF, SORT and TTCT). The Belbin Team Role Instrument was used to assign the 89 managers into a more creative group (planters and resource investigators) and a less creative group. Results derived from the frequency tables showed that out of the 46 creative managers, 17 managers were representative of the creative teamroles (planter role and resource investigator role). In the two-way frequency table of the creativity formula (16PF) with the learning styles of Kolb, 16 of the 46 more creative sample represented a divergent learning style. With the help of the Chi-square test the findings suggest that there is a significant relationship between divergence and creativity (using Cattell's creativity formula).
