S (Thomas Stearns), 1888-1965 -- Dramatic works Theater -- Great Britain UCTD Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch University, 1993. This thesis examines the four "later" plays of T. S. Eliot, namely: The Family Reunion (1939), the Cocktail Party (1949), The Confidential Clerk (1953) and The Elder Statesman (1958). These plays, written over a period of some twenty years, represent a considerable part of Eliot's literary output, yet they are seldom studied or performed. This thesis discusses why this is so. AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie verhandeling ondersoek T. S. ELiot se vier "latere" dramas, naamlik: The Family Reunion (1939), The Cocktail Party (1949), The Confidential Clerk (1953) en The Elder Statesman (1958).
