Plant micropropagation Eucalyptus -- Micropropagation Dissertations -- Forestry Dissertation (Ph. D.) -- University of Stellenbosch, 1993. The aim of this study was to establish an in vitro system for micropropagation, organogenesis, embryogenesis, cell suspension and regeneration and protoplast isolation and culture for high cineol yielding Eucalyptus species, particularly E. radiata ssp. radiara but also E. globulus, E. kochii and E. smithii. In vitro organogenesis and embryogenesis was studied on six important commercial timber species: E. camaldulens;s, E. fraxinoides, E. fastigata, E. grandis, E. macarthurii and E. nitens. E. macarrlwrii with embryogenic potential was further examined to try to establish a line of embryogenic cell suspensions for the production of somatic embryos.
