Ing.) -- University of Stellenbosch, 1993. The aim of this investigation was to develop a computer program capable of modeling shuttle tanker operations when shipping hydrocarbons from the area of the Mossgas F-A gasfields to port in Cape Town in order to make a selection among shuttle tankers and to find the most suitable one to operate under specific environmental conditions. These operations form part of a floating production facility. Owing to its dominant effect on shuttle tanker operations, only the wave height, with its associated wave period, was considered in this investigation. First a statistical model, which generates wave heights, was converted to a computer model and extended to generate a wave period for every wave height.
