spelling oai:scholar.sun.ac.za:10019.1/58619 The word of God and pastoral dynamics in marital communication Cartledge, Bernard Noel Louw, Daniel Johannes Stellenbosch University. Faculty of Theology. Dept. of Practical Theology and Missiology. Communication in marriage Church work with married people Married people -- Religious life Married people -- Pastoral counseling of Thesis (MTh)--Stellenbosch University, 1994. In the context of a general recognition of problems in marital communication, the purpose of this thesis is to show that pastors have their own resources for helping couples develop positive communication in marriage. The hypothesis is that when pastors use the Word of God and prayer in a dynamic way, in the setting of Christian fellowship (the church), and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, their role in helping couples to communicate more deeply, is a unique one. A pastor's role is primarily to help individuals develop personal communion with God. It is through this personal growth in faith, however, that a pastor can also help facilitate intimate communication in Christian marriage. This introduces a faith perspective and thus a spiritual dynamic to the marriage relationship.
