AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie tesis is hoofsaaklik gedoen met die doel om bestaande programme wat kragstasie-kapasitelt onder varierende atmosferiese toestande kan bereken, uit te brel soclat kapasiteit tydens voorverkoeling van lug tydens dieselfde varierende atmosferiese toestande bereken kan word. Die doel hiervan is om die finansiele regverdigheid van lug-voorverkoeling te kan evalueer. Aandag is ook gegee aan die inlaatverliese by natuurlike konveksie droe koeltorings, waarvoor daar tot op datum geen bevredigende inligting beskikbaar was nie.
