The discipline of project management is present in many spheres today. It was developed primarily for use in the construction industry, specifically to simplify the execution projects. Many authors in the field of project management have forwarded theories of project management. It is therefore understandable that the application of project management within construction companies will differ from one another. The aim of this thesis is to investigate techniques in a typical construction company. AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Die beöefening van Projekbestuur word vandag in baie gebiede en werkkringe aangetref. Projekbestuur is hoofsaaklik ontwikkel vir gebruik in die konstruksie industrie, spesifiek om die uitvoering van projekte te vergemaklik. Baie teorieë van projekbestuur is al deur skrywers in hierdie gebied voorgelê, en daarom is dit heel verstaanbaar dat die aanwending van projekbestuur binne die konstruksiemaatskappye sal verskil van mekaar.
