ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the flow losses in the vicinity of an A-frame finned tube neat exchanger in a forced craft air cooled condenser. Correlations that describe these flow losses are derived according to experoments performed on a scale model of a finned tube V-bundle. The use of these correlations are illustrated in a sample calculation for a typical full scale forced draft condenser unit. Practical ways to reduce these flow losses are also investigated. Experminets conducted on a full scale condenser unit are discussed and the results compared with those obtained from the scale model. AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Die doel van hierie tesis is om die vloeiverliese in die omgewing van 'n A-raam vinbuisbundel warmteruiler in 'n geforseerde trek lugverkoelde kondensator te ondersoek. Korrelasies wat hierdie vloeiverliese beskryf, word afgelei na aanleiding van eksperimente wat op 'n skaalmodel van 'n vinbuis V-bundel uitgevoer is. Die gebruik van hierdie korrelasies word geïlistreer aan die hand van 'n monsterberekening vir 'n tipiese volskaal geforseerde trek kondensatoreenheid. Daar word ook gekyk na praktiese maniere om hierdie vloeiverliese te verminder. Eksperimente wat uitgevoer is op 'n volskaal kondensatoreenheid word bespreek en die resultate daarvan vergelyk met die resultate verkry vanaf die skaalmodel.
