More worrisome is the situation whereby multitudes of job seekers compete for positions reserved for only a few people. However, the Library and Information Science profession has many business ventures that a well-trained, competent LIS professional can delve into to generate income and be self-employed. This study which considers entrepreneurship as a privilege also looks at entrepreneurial opportunities and skills required for any LIS professional who would like to start a business as an entrepreneur. The paper concludes with recommendations on how LIS professionals can be empowered for a lifetime of entrepreneurship.
