The aim of the study is to explore liturgical adaptations that could enrich spirituality, specifically within the context of the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC). The practical application is situated within the Helderberg DRC congregation, where these elements were integrated to evaluate their impact. The research project encompasses various approaches and is based on a strong theoretical foundation, supplemented by personal reflection. Meditative music, extended silence, and the use of symbols and rituals from the Taizé-Tradition are critically considered as catalysts for spiritual enrichment. Arthur J. Deikman’s psychological theories serve as the theoretical framework to measure the effectiveness of these elements. Through observations, reflection, and the collection of qualitative and quantitative data, feedback from respondents was utilized to further substantiate the research. The primary goal of this approach is to connect theory and practice, with the assumption that the findings may be useful for implementation in similar Reformed worship services.
