Mikroreproduksie van oorspronklike proefskrif. Business leaders realize progressively that the success or failure of an organization is heavily dependent upon the quality of its managers. As a result more emphasis is being placed on the training of managers. The primary aim of this research was the development of a psycho-education programme to improve managers' interpersonal skills. The secondary aim was to improve the self disclosing, leadership and communications skills of the managers. The experimental research design used herein was one of a pre-post control group nature. The subjects consisted of 30 middle level managers of an agricultural co-operation. They were divided in an experimental and control group consisting of 15 persons each. The measuring instruments selected for the purpose of this research include the Personal, Home, Social and Formal Relations Questionnaire (PHSF) and two scales from the Personal Orientation Inventory (POI). The research procedure consisted of three stages. The initial stage included the development and writing of the psycho-education programme. Secondly the programme was implemented with the experimental group. This facilitated the first stage which was to ascertain the efficiency of the programme. The acquired results indicated that this psycho-education programme did, to a certain extent, significantly contribute to the managers' interperson skills. Possible expiations for this results were offered. In conclusion recommendations for further research were suggested.
