The physical preparation of soldiers is part of any army's training. The Physical Education instructor bears the responsibility for this. To complete his task successfully, he needs to be well trained. Training has become a relevant and important facet of modern life. Good training is partly ensured by the use of a scientifically-tested curriculum. The people concerned with the training of Physical Education instructors in the South African Navy realised that the present curriculum haphazardly, and that certain gaps may occur. That realisation prompted this study.
